Takeaways From Super Tuesday

It still doesn’t feel like it’s 2024. It doesn’t feel like it should be spring, but it is. With the inevitability of seasons turning, we have the 2020 rematch. MAGA gained control in 2016. We cast out MAGA in 2020. In 2024, we must crush MAGA.

In order for democracy to live, MAGA and all its successors must be defeated again and again. But MAGA did not come out of nowhere. This perverse, evil side of our national heritage has its roots in every white hood, every burning cross, every forced resettlement. Such evil can never be fully defeated, but it can be banished to the shadows.

We must be eternally vigilant and oppose a resurfacing of these protofascist movements with words and deeds. We are in those moments that we read about in history classes. Our sons and daughters, grandsons and granddaughters, will ask us what we did to ensure the continuation of the American Republic. Sitting on the sidelines will not be the answer they want to hear.

Democracy, my friends and fellow citizens, is a verb. You are the hope you’ve been waiting for. With Super Tuesday behind us, it is time to look at the major takeaways going forward toward November.
