President Biden ended his re-election campaign and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris earlier today. It takes a person of great courage and character to step away from the chance at a second presidential term. He proved once again that he is a patriot and put his country first.
While I have several policy disagreements with him and had concerns over his re-election bid, I was Ridin’ With Biden all the way till November. Despite being a one-term president, I can say without a doubt that Biden was the best president of my lifetime and arguably the best since LBJ.
Unlike Obama, who came across as very aloof and detached, I felt that Biden really understood the problems I faced as a working person and the demons our country is now facing. While I was deeply frustrated at times, I felt his humanity and believe him to be a fundamentally decent person. Now, in his twilight, we owe him all a debt of thanks for putting our country before his wishes.

Now, we rally behind the future nominee, who will be almost certainly Vice President Harris. There is no one else with the legitimacy, access to the campaign war chest, or ability to navigate the ballot access laws in all 50 states and DC. I suspect her VP candidate will be PA Gov Josh Shapiro, NC Gov Roy Cooper, KY Gov Andy Beshear, or IL Gov J.B. Pritzker. I’ll have more to say about that later.
Fundamentally, the map hasn’t changed that much since 2020. We still have several swing states that we need to defend and could even pick up a couple. We need to defend the Senate and win back the House. Let’s get back to work.
